Much has happened in the last couple of months. Been dealing with some health issues due to stress, decided to leave my job at CCS (11/20 will be my last day), and my mom passed away on 10/30, which hit me hard. She was doing pretty well overall for awhile then about three weeks before she died she took a downhill turn due to her heart. But she was joyful and talkative until the last four days or so when we had to put her on morphine and then she just slept a lot. I was blessed to be able to be with her when she died, as she was awake and knew I was there. It was the best gift ever. I have had so much love and support from friends and family and Ed that it has helped a lot, but it's still hard. Mom and I were very close, and it's going to take awhile to heal. But I know her spirit is with me every day.

Friday the 13th
Not that anyone besides Ed ever checks this blog, I felt that I needed to update it anyway. It's been quite a time over the last two months, so it was time to write something.

Finally Fall
I can't believe it's now officially Fall. How did summer escape from my grasp? But it was such a busy one due to the move that I shouldn't be too surprised. I can't wait until I'm done with my old place (which should be by this weekend), so I can truly start to enjoy how lovely the Valley is. I still want to have a chance to ride my bike around the neighborhood and walk on the Trail more before the weather changes too much. It still feels like summer though, at least this week. And I'm going to rent my house to a good friend for at least six months, so that will take some pressure off of me.
As for other news, been to some fun concerts — John Tesh, Bruce Innes with Original Cast, David Cook, Keith Urban, and this Friday it's Jason Mraz and next week Bryan Adams. It's been very fun, but also takes time away from the property, and I'm starting to feel the pull. But I'm not sorry we're going. Keith Urban was my favorite so far. He is such a good performer.
Also almost lost one of my kitties which was scary. Pipot has become diabetic, and he had a seizure from too much insulin, and I almost lost him. But he made it through it, and now the vet has him on a much lower dose. He seems to be doing great now, and is having fun playing in the field next door. In fact, all the kitties are loving the new place. They love the space and freedom. I do keep them in at night though as I know there are critters around that could hurt them. But they seem happy to come back in at night.
That's about it for now.

End of August
I can't believe it's the End of August and this long since I updated this. But considering all that's been going on I'm not too surprised. Finally got moved into the new home in Greenacres with Ed which is the main thing. That took a lot of my summer and was a lot of work. And I'm still not done, especially with my old place. But I love it in the new place as it's so peaceful. And the animals are transitioning just fine which makes me really happy. I'll see if I can get some new photos soon and while everything looks so great out there so I can post a couple. I did get one quick weekend trip with Ed in over in Seattle which was nice as I got to meet some of his relatives, and one quick weekend with the gals out at Coeur d'Alene lake, so I have gotten some fun and sun in.

Hot days
So, our July has turned out to be quite the hot month. Go figure then, that it's the time of the summer that I decided to get four yards of gravel delivered and move it all over three of the hottest weekends that we've had. Hard work, but good exercise and makes the place look new again. Why I didn't do it last summer is the stupid question versus this summer when I'm going to move. But I figure that if I'm going to put my house on the market, I want it to look as nice as possible. I also need to paint the fence and do cleanup work inside, then I can move with a good conscience. The middle of August will be here before I can blink, and then it will time for the next new adventure. It will be hard to say goodbye to the place after almost 11 years, but I'm excited too!

What a week
Well, this ended up being quite a week. Losing Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, and Michael Jackson all in one week. The latter being the biggest shock. And on top of that, I almost lost one of my favorite kitties, Thor. I thought when I left the vet's office yesterday that I would be putting him down today, but he is rallying. A urinary tract infection that I didn't know he had, turned into kidney problems, so he is spending four days at the vet's on an IV, and then we'll take it from there. But he is such a sweet and special cat, it is worth it to get him back on track. All the folks in the vet's office are in love with him already. I'm hoping that the weekend will be quiet and things will settle down a bit as I'm pretty mentally and emotionally pooped after yesterday. I'm so glad he's on the mend, and that I'll get one of my favorite buddies back on Monday!

Cats
So, who says one has to buy expensive cat beds for one's pets? Tuffy and Pipot showed me last night that carboard boxes from Costco will do just fine, thank you very much. In fact because I put a rug in the one, Tuffy slept in it all night. He was still in it this morning when I got up! And note his petite size. The cat is the size of a small bobcat.
On other fronts, Ed and I spent our first full night out at the new property last week. Just had a date night out there. Had a great dinner, sat out on our covered balcony and watched an amazing light show from Mother Nature like a couple of kids, and watched a movie on his laptop as there are no TVs at the place yet. But we did at least have a bed to sleep on as the Murphy bed is still there. It's most likely going away though so I can have shelves in my office closet as that's the room its in. My all-nighter days for work are hopefully over, so sleeping in my office isn't necessary!

A month already
I can't believe it's been a month since I've written in here. Just been very busy. Doing yard work at two different places, working, house projects... It takes a lot of work to get ready to move. It's still a good two months before I move, but there is much to sort through and do. I've already taken a few loads out of art and small stuff, but the main move won't happen until the place is done. Ed is doing a great job of keeping all the workers on task, and it's not an easy job. I can barely pay attention these days, so it's good to have someone so organized tracking everyone.
Had to post this photo though. It's Pipot in the opium den. Actually, I have a good catnip crop in one of my front flower beds, and it has a pot in the center that i didn't plant this summer (for obvious reasons). He loves to go out there and plop down in the middle of the catnip and nap. Then he'll wake up and eat some more and nap some more. He's a great cat.
